I was an artist who started a performance project that took over my life. Now I’m a full-time staff member at a legal non-profit that handles immigrants rights, police brutality, prisoner rights, and a wide range of other civil rights issues. This fall I will be enrolling in law school with an eye towards utilizing that training to further the cause of social justice. I have a low tolerance for bullshit and a high tolerance for complexity.

Hey buddy,
First order of business: your logo is basically awesome, and I’m enjoying your blog, but I’m unaware of this performance project you speak of. Has it literally encompassed your life completely? Have your friends unwittingly become a part of it? Please advise.

Joining AmeriCorps, and the whole subsequent law school/TCRP thing, grew out a final project in my last art class (the one that involved performance art, multimedia, and photography). It’s not a direct link but goes something like this:
final performance project => idea of joining AmeriCorps => everything I’ve done or spent time on since then.
If you want to know the details of the actual assignment, I’m happy to talk about it more.

ps: Christina made that logo. It’s awesome. I’m also really glad you like it so far, especially since a lot of what I’m writing about is stuff I know you’ve not been terribly interested in in the past.

I’m really curious about this performance project, too; you should do a creative writing assignment in your blog about it.
Also you should join goodreads like christina.
